Firenze, 17 dicembre 2011. Manifestazione di civiltà

Sabato 17 dicembre, la città di Firenze, le istituzioni cittadine e della regione e la comunità senegalese di Firenze si sono strette attorno alle famiglie di Mor Diop e Samb Modou, i due senegalesi uccisi il 13 dicembre in Piazza Dalmazia.
Il corteo della manifestazione, partito alle 15 da piazza Dalmazia, è arrivato in piazza S. Maria Novella.

Non mi succede spesso di partecipare a delle manifestazioni pubbliche. Oggi ho tralasciato tutto e nel primo pomeriggio mi sono messo in cammino sperando di incontrare il corteo già sfilato dopo piazza Dalmazia. Poi, giunto a piazza S. Maria Novella, un amico mi ha fermato e abbiamo deciso di restare in piazza in attesa dell'arrivo del corteo, entro dieci minuti, un quarto d'ora. Così è stato. La piazza ben presto si è riempita di dieci-ventimila persone.
Dal palco hanno pregato i presenti di spostarsi verso la sinistra per lasciare spazio e far affluire tratti del corteo che ancora dovevano entrare in piazza. Un giornalista di "Radio Speranza" mi ha visto. "C'è anche lei, professore, stasera?" mi ha detto. "Non solo ci sono, ma devo dirle che ho sentito il dovere di esserci. Il fatto di trovarsi in tanti stasera è un grande segno di civiltà". Effettivamente è raccapricciante il gesto compiuto. In particolare lo è il meccanismo mentale che ha spinto ad uccidere "il negro, il diverso, lo straniero".

Mi è stato chiesto, sempre in attesa dell'inizio dei discorsi ufficiali: "Lei pensa che il nuovo governo sarà equo nel recuperare il debito?" Gli ho risposto che non era il momento di soffermarsi sul dibattito politico in corso. Ho aggiunto che comunque occorre tenere presente la situazione da cui siamo appena usciti. Certo il cammino sarà lungo e difficile - a partire dalla politica relativa al processo migratorio… Mi ha semplicemente sconvolto apprendere che uno dei giovani uccisi sarebbe dovuto rientrare in Senegal dove è sposato ed ha una figlia di tredici anni che non ha mai potuto conoscere.
Che dramma e che vergogna! E pensare che la politica discriminatoria è stata "partorita" da un governo che si diceva ispirato alla dottrina cristiana ecc. ecc. I canti doloranti che hanno accompagnato il cammino-corteo funebre mi hanno convinto, anche emotivamente, che quanto avveniva a Firenze aveva una portata "storica".

Vorrei congratularmi anche con il presidente della Regione Rossi per il bellissimo intervento fatto. Mi sono detto: "Devi mandargli un biglietto di ringraziamento".
"Com'è bella Firenze stasera!" mi dicevo camminando sul Ponte alla Carraia andando verso S. Agostino.
